The patient owl silently waited for her prey,

She watched as the small mouse strayed away,

She flew high above the trees,

Her long, beautiful feathers ruffled in the breeze,

She eventally landed in her embedded nest,

Where her timid, fragile babies rest,

Her babies' eyes starved in the moonlight,

She hoped for food but there was none in sight,

As she searched for food she saw a deadly snake,

She fled the nest for her babies' sake

She gazed into her two babie's bold, yellow eyes,

For then she suddenly realised,

These owlets where all she had left,

She would take care of them until her last breath.
