The Devil Decline

In the state of Tasmania
the Tasmanian Devil tears through the hills.
I hear the devils thumping feet.
In the pond beside me, I see the stars twinkling back at me.
Within the rustling of bushes, I smell the scent of the forest.
The Tasmanian Devil is having a drink from the other side of the pond.
The Devil is a very cute animal with its soft, furry body and its big, black eyes.
As it finishes its drink it looks at me.
Not in an angry way, but with its head tilted to one side
as if it's asking: “What are you doing here?”
I smile at it and it turns around and trots away.
As it is about to be out of sight,
it turns around and looks at me, smiling back.
I hear its shrieking as it is looking for more prey,
I see the trees gently swaying in the wind.
I touch the soft, green bushes as they are stirring with the wind.
As I close my eyes I hear the water rippling.
As I look up I see the stars, fading as the sun comes up,
and the moon goes down.
