Clasped around my neck
with my own dainty hands,
I adjust the clip
so it fits me well.
I step back and forget everything.
For a moment, my eyelids flutter shut

I'm lost in my world,
holding a dove
carefree and beautiful
as smooth as feathers.
I bring my pearl closer to me,
ruffle it across my cheeks.

Suddenly, I open my eyes
find my image in the mirror
I do a twirl and dim the lights.
Now, I’m a royal with a gem
shining around my neck.

I love you parents, for this beauty.
