The Eucalyptus Tree

Provider for others
Steadily holding the creatures’ home
Betrayed by the ones in power
Roots bound by the flora and fauna that surround it
Growing steadily in the great Australian bush
The trunk from the ground to the above
Shaped as a bed and a home just for others
Branches curling like a snake praying
Grow delightful treats and snacks to comfort
The lush green leaves
Only to be destroyed
Koalas lazily lounge, taking the fruits of their home
Unknowing of the danger that is at hand
The fiery flame from the summer
Comes down, destroying the perfect, beautiful balance
The tree watches on as its brothers and sisters get destroyed
And can only wait to join them
Why do you take me for granted?
Why couldn’t I be saved?
