The Eucalyptus Tree

In the clearing, there it stands
Mighty and tall, glorious and grand
Slim branches, rustling leaves
Fluttering in the morning breeze
In its branches, koalas play
Come rain, come wind, it does not sway
Come winter’s cold, come summer’s heat
It still stands firmly in its seat
It is one of Australia’s greatest glories
The guardian of Aboriginal stories
Strong and sturdy, despite its age
It holds tightly centuries of heritage
This marvellous sight
Brings me joy and delight
This beauty I see
Is the eucalyptus tree
