The Facade of the Sea

At the beach, a beautiful paradise,
Cooling my feet from the hot dry desert I came from.
I walk along, but the sea rasps out,
Speaking of plastic and pollution,
Hiding under the façade of crystal-clear water.
A jellyfish washes up onto the shore,
At first, I’m interested in this jelly-like creature.
But then my interest turns to dread,
As it rolls over to reveal a logo.
A dead turtle washes up,
A plastic bag enclosed in its magnificent scaly mouth,
I cry into the sand! My favourite animal,
Drained of life,
From our awful actions!
