The Flight of a Maple Leaf

The leaf wanders with the wind,
its striking colour catches my eye
A brew of blended hues,
vibrant against the gloomy sky
Like a crimson cardinal,
the little leaf takes flight
Twisting and turning,
as it flutters out of sight
I run to catch up,
as it spins and weaves
Its razor-sharp edges
graze the passing trees
The scarlet blade slices the air,
as the breeze causes it to sway
With determination and a mission,
the leaf dashes away
Thunder wakes the forest,
with a loud, booming sound
And the leaf floats lower and lower,
until it reaches the ground
