The Game Of Bowls

A gathering of some folks
A mouthful of chatter and thirst-quenching drinks were downed
On some days the rain would keep us inside
While the grass, so green, was getting drowned.
But today, it was very sunny
The green was nice and dry
We all shook hands and introduced ourselves
While the green was being timed.
16 seconds, a fast green it was
The 2 trial ends to determine the side
I would stay on for the rest of the day
It was time to take my bowls for a ride.
Lead, Second, Third and Skip
Were the positions on both teams
The objective to be consistent and get as close as we could
To the jack, be it yellow or cream.
Afternoon tea was, like always, top notch
We were already 20 shots up
I had played my best game ever
And we had won the cup.
