The long arms of the Great Tree stretched out
Giving shade to the children below,
As the wind gently blows, the tree dances.
The long, old roots dig into the dark, moist dirt.
Even though they have been there for years,
They are still as fresh as a new flower sprouting from the ground

The Great Tree gives us our lives
Working hard all day
And winding down in the evening
Like a hard-working parent
Bur doing all this while staying
As still as a statue

The Great Tree gives children of all ages and races
A place to play and come together
Without fighting, but playing in peace
As the Great Tree is careful not to drop them

The Great Tree has lived for thousands of years
Watching time pass,
Watching small toddlers grow into mature adults
He has watched all his friends fall
When his time comes, he isn’t scared
But grateful and happy with what he has given to our world
And what our world has given to him
He falls as gently as a feather
Cautious not to fall on his flowers.
