The Jungle

Swinging from branch to branch,
Chimpanzees scream,
Lyrebirds perform their dazzling dance,
The sun shining through the leaves like a beam.
Waterfalls burst off cliffs, ending in a clean blue lake,
Bursts of colour jut out of bushes attracting buzzing busy bees,
Creeks splash around trees and curl like snakes,
Trees blossom surrounded by many, many leaves.
Wombats dig day and night making snug burrows,
Kookaburras are busy building their nests,
Geckos adventure every small furrow,
Ants combine leaves making their houses look the best.
The shrub, alive with bugs,
Hollows inhabited by hummingbirds,
Moss covers trees like warm fluffy rugs,
Green bushes smelling like bitter herbs.
Chipmunks scamper up tall thick trunks,
Rich soil cakes their paws,
Fungi giving off scents as bad as skunks,
Panthers slumber and scratch thick trees sharpening their claws.
