The Layer Underneath The Leaves

The trees weep stretching out their arms in plea
They see what we don't see
They see what's happening
They see what our world is going to be
But we don't listen
As the earth's heartbeat slows we don't see
We focus on ourselves because we don't want to be
The thieves who stole the land but we are
As you walk in the forest its dead silent
The trees surround you
They're only there for us
Face facts our forests fade
We protect them for us not for them
We stare in beauty but there is much more we never see
