The Lizard

Quietly he exits
The lizard pokes out his head
He steps out into untamed darkness
The trees tower over him
Like giants in the inky black
They beg to be climbed
Slowly he climbs over wood
Spiraling higher and higher
Exploring his newfound kingdom
A screech from above
He's under siege
Bombarded by a crow
He scampers down
Back to his little hole
Safe and sound.
