The Midnight Moon

It sent a heartbeat, a warm pulse
Balancing the cold of starlight and
the occasional nip of the wind.
The breeze came back for a second time
Tugging the leaves awake
And tumbling rocks down the hill.
I awoke under the moonlight,
gazing upon the serene night.
Even the crickets weren’t chirping.
It felt like a dream,
The clashing of reality and imagination
until…
The silence was broken by one single,
gust.
A yellow glow rose,
replacing the Midnight Moon
The night came to a close
Maybe I’ll experience this again
Maybe not now, but soon.
