The Necklace

The Necklace:
I will hold you ‘till the very end
For you have always been there, my old friend
Another will not satisfy
Nor will a good-bye;
For you are a gift from my mother
That still caresses me like no other
Through the struggles of everyday life,
Through the pressures, you lead me on; an imitation of a knife
That pierces in the silent sky
A hand, a guide for life so that i can stay satisfied
A new cross without sins, but stained already with memories
Six years now has it been?
A shiny cross it was before- now a painted treasury
The story of a young boy and his irreplaceable cross
Hung on his neck, rested on his heart lightly
Together in thick or thin- it lights the path across
Whilst he grasps onto it ever so tightly
A lullaby that tames his fast-beating soul
In the times of great pressure it calms him down
And shows the world what he has
A treasured peace-maker, a metronome to his fast-beating untamed heart.
