As I dive into the wondrous ocean,

The seafoam tickles my feet,

All of the fish living beneath the tall, green seaweed,

Swaying as the ocean crashes onto shore.

My friends get splashed by the tears of her misery,

Wondering if they’ll ever know how it feels,

I can hear her heartbeat, the waves, slowing,

As I watch the fishing net get thrown into the ocean like a blanket

Bundling everything up in its path.

She rushes away from the golden sand,

Getting pulled by the fisherman’s tug.

My heart sinks to the bottom of the ocean,

As I fear nothing will ever change,

But the children's happiness and laughter awakens me,

While watching them pick up the plastic bottles and bags

That are like poison to her.

She bursts with happiness, her waves becoming faster and faster

Almost like she’s coming back to life,

The ocean needs people like this,

Instead of killing her with plastic, like a knife.
