The Old Gum Tree

A floating leaf detaches from the thin branches and flips over,
twirling towards the ground.
The crunchy leaves under the tree snapping under my shoes.                                 
Tiny pink rose like flowers blooming out, like a bush dropping its leaves,
Brown sticky sap dripping down the tree’s trunk like an ice cream melting.
Bark falling apart and detaching like a whole bone of a juicy chicken drumstick.
Trees swooshing around like little white butterflies floating in the summer morning.
Branches twirling quietly in the storming dark grey sky.
