The sun shone over the meadow,
And inside the pond below,
A brown duck bill poked out of the water.
Slick fur swam around in a blur,
And beaver tail reflected the bright sun.

Not seen a lot in the wild,
It seemed to be exiled.
They feast on small animals,
And its beak can be as hard as skulls.

The males have mouths of venom,
That can be harmful to your thumb.
The platypus is a cute mammal,
And maybe out of its fur are bubbles.

The platypus is a majestic creature,
In a stream or in a creek it may stir.
Living peacefully in the wild.
