In the waters of South Australia,

where the Pygmy Blue Whale is found,

This rare type of mammal that roams the seas,

To the coast of this continent, it's bound.

For the krill hunt is on and a feast will begin,

As the pygmy whale lunges the swarm,

Their love for plankton, it will never stop,

While the seaweed is rich, long and warm.

With a long, slender body and a tapering tail,

Like a huge mining truck, it weighs 90 tonnes,

The blow hole shaped like an elephant’s trunk,

This whale’s life has only begun.

Numbers almost under a thousand,

Killer whales lurk all around,

Pollution threatens their ocean homes,

Where will this gracious mammal be found?
