the quick catcher

this net smells like
every single fish that’s been caught
in the looped and twined fibres
it’s almost impossible
for the fish to escape
because the net holes are so small
only bait fish
or a tiny sardine fit through
sometimes the fishing nets
can have silver inside
because all of the fish
that swim in and get caught
drop at least one
scale
