The Regent Honeyeater

I sit under the old gum tree
And hear the leaves rustling against the tree,
Then I hear the sweet song
Of the gold and black bird, it is the regent honeyeater.
Its voice follows in the wind
Like ribbon twirling and curling,
Looking for its precious chicks
Chirping for their mother, waiting to eat.
The regent honeyeater lands on a wild flower
Dazzling and razzling the nectar with its superpower
Carrying pollen from one flower to the next
Spreading delight from just a few pecks.
As the sun shines through the Australian bush
The regent honeyeater is rare to be seen and heard,
Protect and conserve this amazing creature
We hope they survive, please spread the word!
