It starts with a tiny seed

Health and hope within

Its hardened shell.

It seems our small seed

Seems to have sprouted

Reaching to the sky for promise and strength.

And as it hardens and spreads

Our sapling gets a glimpse of the world

With its challenges and joys.

Now our sapling has witnessed both death and birth

And has weathered the most spiteful storms

And the driest droughts it can now be called a tree.

The tree is now a snag,

A rotting husk of what it once was.

But spread out and find that it is surrounded by its children

A thriving forest of trees and saplings and even the smallest sprouts

as the cycle starts again.

And to think it started with one tiny seed.
