The Sub-Antarctic Fur Seal

Sub-Antarctic Fur Seals, a mammal of the south,
Can appear as a lump, with an almighty powered mouth.
Mohawk like hair, short arms like a stump,
But don’t try to approach them, they’re usually a grump.
Types vary from brown to black, skinny or fat,
Their roar it ranges from C to C flat.
From 1 to 3 metres in length, corpulent in weight,
They may look adorable but don’t take the bait.
Propelling themselves through the water like a sub,
Racing to catch their dinner at their special seafood pub.
Their prey will be leaving when a seal is in sight,
All day they’ll be waiting, for just one more bite.
They stay around small islands, being safe at their best,
Different coloured fur keeping them warm on their chest.
If they start to get cold, they are huddled and curled,
But how long will these fur seals remain in our world.
Being hunted for fur, their population’s so low,
Next time you’re looking for them consider saying no.
If you’re taking photos these seals won’t say cheese,
There’s only 300,000 left, so look after them please.
