The Sunflower

Leaves as green as the grass in spring,

Beads swirling around in the centre of the flower,

like spectators around an arena at a sporting event.

Petals as yellow as the skin of a pineapple.

Bees slurping the nectar, so sweet.

Sunlight gazing onto the flower, turning it towards the sun,

making people happy.

Petals expanding out like wet paint spreading onto blotting paper.

Sunflowers sold at the summer markets,

making people smile.
