The Talented Hummingbird

The calls of this creature
Yet to be fully understood
They are radiant across the garden
The colourful bodies, vibrant as a rainbow
Other birds sing back, like a choir
Their wings look like ones of an angel,
Perking up like arms of a human in celebration
They are smaller than your hand,
Sipping nectar from flowers
They are a talented breed
The only one who can fly backwards,
And upside down
They are the call of the wild,
In a city full of skyscrapers
They sing to me like a best friend
The hummingbird.
