Yellow-bellied glider drifts, unseen by our eyes,
territory invaded- throaty vocals advertise.
‘fluffy and adorable’,
venerable yet ‘vulnerable',
Hard to spot yet we can all envision her demise.
Denned within the sheltered hollows of a native relic
-Canobolas’ Eucalypt- ‘endangered’ and endemic.
A Gaanha Bula legacy
From a mega-annum of memory
Yet now it’s sole trajectory- it’s purely academic.
Blossoming Giles mintbush flaunts in ‘pretty’ mauve and white
Yet dark and grave her future as she’s ‘critical’ despite.
On old-man, young-man crests-
The Strong and delicate coalesce,
Yet as time rolls by her single space will make a nice campsite.
For our wants and nonchalance under sprinklings at twilight
Their havens turn to hellholes- leaving inklings and ichnites.
Lost wonderous rarity and soulful singularity,
Aussie peculiarity, true-blue spectacularity.
Forever and eternity to seek them on a ‘nice’ website.
