I plunge into the icy water,

the cold numbs my fingers,

the oceans hypnotic beauty,

I venture further,

I see it,

the kelp forest,

I look up,

it's a mesmerising terror,

a plastic ocean,

a plastic future.

I call for help but my cries are unheard,

it's useless, it's a forgotten hope,

my vision blurs,

I've been down too long,

I need air, fresh air,

I surface expecting fresh but I'm faced with grey,

how long will we last if we stay this way?

I dive down, my vision's black,

so I rest near the kelp forest,

my kelp forest.
