The Wedding Ring

Of all the lies that have been said and done
The ring that remains is the only tangible one
The promise to love
To treasure and keep
What was once shining bright
Is now dull and bleak
Shrouded in darkness and deceit and sorrow
The ring has seen things like there is no tomorrow
The most beautiful sins
The most cherished mistakes
Things that one can never retake
Behind the glamour
Beyond the lies
Within the ring everything hides
The love they promised there and then
Was now the means of their deadly end.
