They send us away, far far away

They cut down our homes, they cut down our trees

Our burrows are gone, our place

First the bridge, then more

Just for themselves and their offspring

We have lives too

The houses that they built

The civilization that we are not welcome in

The river is our barrier, our haven

Until

It isn’t

They are building towards us, always needing more space, more lumber

The fox slinks dejectedly away, the bats flying high

Oh river, when will we see you again

Oh river, how we will miss you

I do not understand

Do they not care?

The river is our place too!

Yet…

They send us away, far far away…
