Tranquil Sleep

Far on the distant horizon,
The bright saffron orb begins to dip
Into the calm, cobalt waters of the sea
As the vast sky turns into a majestic geranium red,
But slowly fades to the softest lilac.
A light breeze blows across
Stirring up a small storm of yellow dust,
Which blows through the tiny golden kingdom
Made from the sunburnt sand.
The soft swish of the tumbling, turquoise waves
Lulls the restless senses and mind.
While the spirit is allowed to roam free,
The body is left behind.
There is a calling I feel inside,
Like a predominant, aching urge.
To go forward into the mesmerising blue waters,
leaving the feel of gritty sand behind,
And finally, enter a tranquil, everlasting sleep.
