Truthfully Treasured

Gloom and smog filled the air
As the fire passed in despair
Birds fought for air, left breathless
The bushland was engulfed in silence
The woeful land looked so desolate and dry
After the harsh flames danced over the night sky
Scared for their life as time ticked their clock
For their means of escape meant nothing more
Than to look at their home no longer adorn
Thud!
Vengeful axes shoved into the weeping trees
As more fire and smoke appeared up from the seams
There was nothing more to worry other than our despair
“We need you humans, we need your help”
“We need your kindness, can't you hear us yelp?”
“We need to be valued, we need to be treasured”
“We need to start now, our vines need to be measured”
However a hopeful, blooming tree
From the roots that chained them down so bear
Was this really all that fair?
