Twinkle in the Past

Click, clack, clatter, tick
The pieces we arrange
Chat, babble, jibber-jab
While memories we exchange
Rich, golden, sunny side up!
Smooth like a baby's bottom
A safe haven for my thoughts and dreams
The memories lasting through the autumn
The tinkling sound rings through my ears
Resounding 'round my head
My mind drifts back to memories
This charm's firmly embed'.
'C'mon! Tell me! How was your school camp?'
A bright-eyed youngin' squeals in delight.
'I really wish I could go on that trip!'
And it goes on like this into the night.
'When I grow up, I'll be just like you!
I'll be like a clone and do what you do!'
Then, hazily, my mind swirls back to the present
When I glance at my star puzzle, I feel only contentment.
