Two Faces

Lightly sprinkled specks, mousy hair and emerald sight,
Dimples and wires across the white,
Stands there fair, but ever so small
Looking glass tell me who she’ll be when she is tall
The reflection I see changes throughout the years
With unforgettable laughs and uncontrollable tears
The reflection I want to see happens in my mind
Caring, gentle wise and kind
You see the past follows behind you like the silver trail of a snail,
And the present stays right by your side,
Like a dog’s wagging tail,
But the future looks at you right in the eye standing with pride
What I see fades through the reflection
Like a thin layer of soft protection
I wipe the layer, and cloud of safety lifts away
The pressure builds ever wondering if it will be finally, ok
Lightly sprinkled specks, mousy hair and emerald sight
Wrinkles and greys all through the white
Stands right there, knowing all
Looking glass remind who she was when she was small
