Uluru

The sacred monument rises out of the ground
Like a volcano about to erupt
The sunlight reflected off of it
Increasing the outline of the mountain
The land around it gleamed
With thousands of years of sun
The constant rising and falling
Warm mornings and cool nights
Water and wind create art
On the rock faces
Red and orange paint creates
Handprints and weapons
Chains for climbing the giant
Are still present
Like scars
Like forever-present wounds
The deep connection Uluru
Has with the land is like
Mother and daughter, Father and son
A sacred connection
