Unique Book Companion

It's black and thick,
With a smooth, shiny surface.
I earned it when I was 6.
There I was excited ,
In getting a new item.
Absorbed, I continued in writing,
Pouring my thoughts into,
My smiggle book.
As I went on I became more addicted to it,
And I soon had a unique, reliable companion.
It was a book that helped me continue on,
In the somewhat bleak world.
