Wagger

We were so excited the day our Wagger came back to stay.
We raised him from puppyhood to adolescence
He was supposed to become a Guide dog –
But, he failed his Guide Dog training –
“He just wants to be a dog” they said
Our daughter still declares it was
because she told him she loved him
too much to let him go.
Now a stately old gentleman
He is the light of our lives, the hub of our family.
His eyes are dimming
His hearing waning
He barks to be let in and out of the door.
Every morning he is ready with a smile and a wag of his tail
Our family all declare they love him too much to let him go.
