We Are Not The Devils

My home has been destroyed
Where all my things belong
The humans call us devils
But they did all the wrong
A handful of them help us
To get these tumours off our face
Some others act naive
And turn their gaze away
A cancer around me spreads
Through my family to my friends
The sticks and leaves pierce at my paws
As I wander through this lonesome path
The ash and debris fall before me
Laying in pieces at my feet
Dear friends, where have you gone
It feels as though the world has abandoned me
Left helpless and I’m lost
I’m stumbling in a daze
Nowhere I can go to
I’m staring death straight in the face
