What droughts are like
By Alice D
It used to be the summer
Blooming flowers and lush trees
It was time for dinner and the water was thinner
I shout without a doubt, it’s a drought
A blood flood in the sky,
The scorching sun was affecting my days
We were not ready to say goodbye
Hushed whispers speak to the families going through this dreadful time
I remember the colour of the sky
The moon was silver in the darkening sky.
The summer breeze is now a myth
You would understand when you know what I mean
Hydration is my main solution
But you see,
It’s not the resolution here
So please stay safe
And love to the trees
