She climbs the tree devasted, as she has lost her only child

Her lungs filled with smoke and burns covered her body.

She reaches the top of the tree and gazes out at the once lush land

Now barren and dry, she thinks she has no hope.

She crosses the road searching for a safer and lusher place to live.

Suddenly the sound of metal hits screeches and she shrinks back,

The driver picks up a now shaking and curled up ball of fur.

He sees the burns and looks the way she has come from,

He's heard about this, the fires that destroy koala's homes

He never thought it was so serious, he never thought it so devastating.

He takes her with him and covers her with a cloth

He looks after her and nurses her back to health.

Finally one day her fur is lush and soft again.

Her burns have gone and she is less shaken now.

He thinks it is time to return her to the wild.

He feels sad leaving her here,

But she is eager as he helps her out of the car and she climbs onto the grass.

He has chosen a new spot for her to live and this one is lush and striving with life.

She feels the grass on her feet and the smell of fresh air and gum leaves.

To her, it will always feel like and be home!
