joanne burns' first book of poetry, Snatch, was published in London in 1972. Since then she has published over a dozen other collections including on a clear day, aerial photography, footnotes of a hammock, an illustrated history of dairies, and amphora. Her most recent collection of poetry brush was published by Giramondo Publishing in 2014. She has been a teacher of English and creative writing and has been performing her work since the 1970s. She has been particularly concerned with the blurring of the distinctions between poetry and prose in her work, and has written extensively in prose poem/ microfiction forms. She has also written monologues and short futurist fictions and ‘farables’ (fables/parables). She lives in Sydney.
