Lauren Chapman Carpenter on Poetry and letting go
Lauren started writing in the bush where she lived at Falls Creek in Nowra as a 13 year old girl. Struggling to find a balance in this world between black and white, bush and city and her adjustments to this new society, Lauren began her journey into poetry.
I was inspired by my Grandmother who taught me many lessons, including the need for progress - progress for myself, and progress for our future generations. Poetry for me is letting go of the bitterness, letting go of the pain, and transforming this energy into productive progress which I believe is very much alive in this series of poems that I am sharing with you.
