Nana's Opal Ring
By Milla
Published 23 July 2020
As round as a basketball flying through the air
Marbled like a tie-dye shirt
Clasped like my hand in my Nana's
As we walk through hagley park
Handed down for Generations like the Treaty of Waitangi
Rainbow like a sign to the candy store
Rusty like my grandad's old tools
Spotty like a Dalmation
Silver like my garden shed
As old as the Queen
Shiny like a unicorn’s horn
Glistening like little specks of dust
Loved by my Nana and many others
