A small ornate bottle
Filled with a solution
A solution to many girls biggest fears

Filled to the brim
Pale in colour
A liquified mask

We look in the mirror and don’t like what we find
We try to change what is on the outside
We are told, to cover up your imperfections
But is that really who we are inside?

Those afraid of who they are searching for a mask
A mask of foundation to cover our deepest and darkest insecurities

A spot of acne
A flaw of the skin
A slight discolouration
All of these that foundation must fix

At the end of the day
I look again
Only to wipe away the mask that hides who I am
Until the next morning when It is time to apply
That temporary mask that hides who I am.
