A friend who is always there for you
Listening to all the secrets you tell
Who will never forget your love
The shadows curled around you - like a fire would a log
Stained by years of joy and loss.
The array of colours that once clothed you are fading like
the sunset disappearing behind the cloak of night
Hid unintentionally behind layers of ageing neglect
Left without a friend to hold his hand
Stuck in the past never able to walk forward
